Slovinsky, Jr.
October 15, 1947 – September 27, 2017
John P. Slovinsky, Jr., 69, of Cortland, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 8:15 a.m. in the emergency room at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren following complications from a long illness.
John was born in Warren on October 15, 1947 the son of the late John P. Sr., and Anne P. Macko Slovinsky and was a lifelong area resident.
A member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, John graduated in 1966 from SS. Peter & Paul School. He was a member of BPOE #295 where he was Past Exulted Ruler. John enjoyed cars, fishing and the friendship of his grandchildren and his pet companions.
John worked as the bar manager at Cafe22 on Youngstown Road for many years.
John was married to the former Suzanne Schick on September 6, 1969 and she survives. He is also survived by a son Philip M. Slovinsky of Warren, John P (Lisa) Slovinsky III of Newton Falls, Tracey L. (Jeff) Boros of Millington, MI and Michele A. (Keith) Golias of Niles; a sister MaryAnne (William) Denman of Cortland; a sister-in-law Nancy Slovinsky of Dunnellon, Florida and seven grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Boros, Millaina Lane, Alyia Slovinsky, Jonathan, Brandon and Caydence Golias.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Donald M. Slovinsky.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:20 p.m. in the Sinchak & Kaszowski Funeral, 727 E. Market St, Warren, Ohio 44481.
A Panachida Service will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Fr. Simeon B. Sibenik, pastor of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church as celebrant.
Inurnment will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in John's name to the American Diabetes Association.
