WARREN — John C. Ticoras, 87, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, September 1, 2026, at Windsor House of Champion, surrounded by the love of his family.

John was born on March 23, 1939, in Chios, Greece, a son of the late Christ J. and Despina (Paxos) Ticoras. At the age of 17, John and his family came to the United States in 1956, making their home in Warren, Ohio. It was here that John would build a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and love.

A proud 1958 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, John went on to marry the love of his life, Mary Mavrogianis, on July 14, 1963. Together, they shared 30 years of marriage filled with love and treasured memories until Mary's passing on February 28, 1993. Though their years together were far too few, the love they shared remained a lasting part of John's heart throughout his life.

John was a man of deep and abiding faith and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren. His faith was an important foundation in his life, as was his connection to his Greek heritage and community. He was a past member of AHEPA and the Chios Society of New York and Warren, where he faithfully served as treasurer.

John was exceptionally hardworking and took great pride in providing for his family. He dedicated 30 years of his working life to Packard Electric, retiring on October 1, 1999. His work ethic was a reflection of the man he was—dependable, humble, and devoted to those he loved.

In his retirement, John enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He took great pride in tending to his yard and garden, keeping busy around his home, and, most importantly, spending time with his family. His family was his greatest joy, and those who knew him will remember the quiet ways he showed his love, his devotion to those closest to him, and the pride he took in watching his children and grandchildren grow.

John's memory will forever be cherished by his son, Dr. Christ J. Ticoras of Naples, FL; his daughter, Debbie (Nick) Hatzis of Warren, with whom he made his home; his grandchildren, Hannah, Mariella, Mitchell (Mackenzie), Madeline, and John "Jack" Ticoras, and Michael (Katherine) Hatzis and Maria Hatzis (Collin McInnes); his sisters, Kallie (Archie) Athanas and Irene (Kosta) Sedereas; nieces, Katie (George) Snyder and Debbie Athanas; nephews, Steve Sedereas who was also his Godson (Frances Valenzuela) and Christian (Maria) Sedereas; great-nephews, Avery Eggleston and Konstantine Sedereas; and great-niece, Athena Sedereas.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary (Mavrogianis) Ticoras.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to John on Saturday, September, 5, 2026 from 10 to 11am, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St. NE, Warren, OH 44481.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Constantine Valantasis.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
