Cortland - Joseph Cavaliere, 66, was welcomed into eternal rest Friday, June 7, 2013 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born October 28, 1946 in Vieste, Italy. He immigrated to the United States in 1964. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years Mattea "Tia" Piscopo whom he married July 21, 1974; two children, Vincent Joseph Cavaliere (Hayley Jean) of Cortland and Jessica A. Cavaliere of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Dominic and Ava; a brother Anthony Cavaliere (Laura) of Warren; nephew Vincenzo Cavaliere (Maria) of Cincinnati; niece Maria "Tata" Cavaliere of Howland; a sister Teresa Cavaliere of West Palm Beach, FL.; nephew Luca and niece Lucia, grandniece Nina, and grandnephews, Antonio and Giovanni. Joseph has also touched the lives of the Piscopo family, who still reside in Italy and who will welcome him home to Vieste for his final resting place. Joseph devoted his entire life to his family. His teachings, guidance, and positive outlook leave a lasting impression on all of his loved ones. The Cavaliere and Piscopo families are deeply saddened by the loss of their patriarch. Joseph was a valued employee at ADS where he was a skilled machinist. Joseph was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Cortland. He is preceded in death by his parents. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday June 11, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Cortland; followed by a 12:00 noon Mass of Christian Burial with Rev.
