Howland - Joseph J. "Joe" Canton, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Lake Vista in Cortland. He was born December 25, 1930, in DeLancey, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Anna Canton. He was a 1947 graduate of St. Adrain High School in Delancey, PA. He retired in 1991 from Packard Electric as a trouble shooter for 32 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. James Church) and had been in the church choir, Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a gold card member, Warren Moose #186, and Itam #30. He was a fan of all professional Pittsburgh sports teams. Joe enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. Joe served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He is survived by his children Gerald "Jerry' (Darleane) Canton of Chagrin Falls, and Gina (Ruthie Hulett) Canton of Canfield, two grandchildren Michael B. Canton of Howland and Christina M. (Michael) Cline of Willowick, two great granddaughters Olivia and Amy, a brother Ronald (Margie) Canton of Delancey, PA, a sister Mary Jane (Dennis Clark of Reynoldsville, PA, and his best friend and companion Sue Salman. He preceded in death by his parents, and wife Geraldine "Gerry" Canton who passed away January 11, 1998. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. James Church) 2532 Burton St. SE, Warren, Ohio 44484, with Rev. John Lody officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe's name to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish 1234 High St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
