Warren - Joseph "Joe" A. Chovan Sr. 81, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland. He was born December 28, 1934, in New Kenningstown, PA, the son of the late Peter and Julia Chovan. In 1957 he moved Leavittsburg, OH. He went to work for Packard Electric from where he retired after 38 yrs. Joe's sense of humor and stand-up character earned him a lot of friends. He was a volunteer driver and was a nine-gallon donor for the Red Cross. He was active in the LaBrae booster club when his son's played sports. In 2012 Joe married Syl Ghent and acquired three adult step sons, Russ w/Laura, Chuck w/Tammy and Mark who all survive him. Joe enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He also enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzles and a good cigar. Joe is remembered for his strength and wisdom by his four surviving children, Joseph (Julie) Chovan Jr. of Cincinnati, Susan Chovan-Poole of Vinton, LA, Daniel (Rosa) Chovan of Park Ridge, IL, and Janet (Rick)Smelko of Cortland, seven grandchildren, Jared, Andrea (Todd), Grace (Roan), Joseph (Amy), Daniella, Sarah (Larry), and Scott (Tabbi), ten great grandchildren and a brother Peter (Maxine) Chovan of Coral Springs, FL. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of almost 56 yrs., Eleanor "Sis" Chovan and their first born, Corinne Ann Chovan, his stepfather Andy Kovach, siblings John, Ann Mosovsky, Julia Placko and Frank.
