HOWLAND - Josephine M. Bellay, 86, of Howland, passed away Saturday, Dec. 4. 2010, at her residence.

Josephine was born June 20, 1924, in Republic, Pa., the daughter of Elias and Anna Kapral Chunko.

She graduated from Redstone Township High School in Republic.

Josephine was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Josephine's husband, George Bellay Jr., whom she married July 14, 1945, passed away Sept. 1, 1992.

Josephine leaves a son, Theodore C. (Barbara) Bellay of Howland; two daughters, Kathleen A. (Michael) Sunday of Petoskey, Mich., and Georganne M. (Tunis) Selby III of Florence, S.C.; a sister, Rosemarie Crossan of Warren; seven grandchildren, Tonya Kurtzman, Michael Sunday, Nicole Tabor, George Selby, Teddy Bellay, Carrie Selby and Aaron Sunday; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Tabor, Michael Kurtzman and Hayden Kurtzman.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
