Warren - Josephine Benedicktus, 92, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born October 18, 1922 in Niles, Ohio the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria DeMare. She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended Warren Business School in Warren. At age 17 she had worked at the Niles Hardware Store, managed the gift wrapping department at Griswall Store that was part of Strouss in Warren, sales inspector at Republic Steel Mill in Niles, and Packard Electric Division of General Motors in Warren. Josephine was co-owner of Benedict Dry Cleaners in Warren, with her late husband from 1959 to 1992. Josephine always enjoyed giving to people rather then receiving and loved going to lunch with family and friends. She did belong to the American Business Woman Association, Fifth Wheel, Speech Club, Craft Club, Dance Club, Boat Club, Card Club, 500 Club at Church, Bowling Club, and the Ohio Dry Cleaners Association. She enjoyed all sports, bowling, swimming, boating, playing cards, painting, roller skating, biking, helping people and spending time with her family. She was a member Sts. Peter Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. She is survived by her son Donald "Don-Benny" (Cindy) Benedicktus of Girard, a grandson Alex, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband Walter Benedicktus whom she married April 3, 1948 and passed away July 31, 1991, three brothers James, Phillip, William "Bill" DeMare, and two sisters Phyllis Spano Ujfalusi and Philomena Cocuzzi. Per Josephine's request Private calling hours and a service was held. Burial was in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
