Obituary

Josephine Hancin, 91, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and loyal dog, Lucky.

Josephine was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Thomas, W.Va., the daughter of the late Joseph and Josphine Batista Baucic.

She graduated in 1938 from Fowler High School where she was class valedictorian.

Josephine retired as a supervisor for the Trumbull Lamp Division of General Electric in 1982 after working there 43 years. She was a longtime member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.

Josephine's husband, John C. Hancin, whom she married Oct. 2, 1948, passed away April 4, 1990. Josephine and John traveled around the world on cruises and enjoyed great times together with friends.

Josephine leaves her loving family, two nephews, Richard Manz of Cortland and Bret (Joellen) Manz of Cortland; a niece, Barbara Ruiter of Cortland; three great-nieces, Jessica Hart of Warren, Jenna Manz of Cortland and Kayla Manz of Cortland; three great-great-nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Joseph Bednarik and Edward Hancin.

Josephine was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Manz and Mary Bednarik; and three brothers and three sisters who died in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
