Youngstown – Joyce Ann Petrunia, 91, formerly of Warren passed away on Sunday evening, November 10, 2024, her birthday, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman.

Joyce was born on November 10, 1933, in Youngstown, OH into a devout Irish Catholic family, the daughter of James Hugh and Mary Ann (O'Connor) McGinty.

Joyce was a proud graduate of Ursuline High School in 1951 and went on to graduate from St. Elizabeth Nursing School and then from St. Louis University School of Nursing with a bachelor's degree. She had a successful 50-year career as a nurse, working and teaching at St. Elizabeth and Trumbull Memorial Hospitals. Joyce was dedicated to her work and gave special attention to each of her patients. She was widely known and well respected by her colleagues.

Outside of work, Joyce was a member of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, where she served on the board for many years. She enjoyed attending her Ursuline High School class reunions yearly. At St James Church, she was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and served as a greeter. She was also active in Seton III and the Youngstown Council of Catholic Nurses.

Most of all, she loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. Joyce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joyce will always be remembered by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Petrunia of Youngstown; sons, Mark (Lisa) Petrunia of Pittsburgh and Brian (Catherine) Petrunia of Canfield; grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah, Nicholas, William and David Petrunia and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, James Daniel (Roseanne) McGinty.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Joyce on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren.

There will be a funeral mass on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 1:30pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish – St. James Church Site, 2532 Burton St. SE Warren, OH 44484. All guests are asked to MEET AT THE CHURCH.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
