Obituary

Howland - Karen Gray passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 27, 1948, in Warren, Ohio the daughter of the Edward and Elvina Minotti. She was a 1966 graduate of Champion High School. Karen received a Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Youngstown State University and a Master's degree in education from Marygrove University in Michigan. She retired in 2010 from the Howland Local School System after 39 years of teaching. She had previously taught in the Vienna and Ada school systems. She was a dedicated teacher and extended compassion to every one of her students. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. Cyril's Church) in Warren. She enjoyed golfing, snow skiing, exercising, roller blading and traveling. She was a loyal and caring friend and formed many precious friendships that were long lasting. Karen and Jim were married for 44 years; they were truly meant to be together. She is survived by her husband James "Jim" Gray, an aunt and uncle David (Jean) Ciarrochi of Warren, and her poodle and pride and joy "Porsha." She was preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends may call Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish (St. Cyril's Church). Burial will be in Howland Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Karen's name to the Cleveland Clinic Research Fund. We would like to thank Dr. Robert DeBernardo, his Nurse Practitioner Tara, and the other staff members at The Cleveland Clinic for their outstanding care and support for Karen.
