Obituary

The Lord welcomed home his newest angel with the passing of Kathryn J. Kubicina, 94, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 4:30 a.m.

Kathryn was born on July 28, 1919 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of the late Steve and Catherine (Lukacik) Kucherenka.

Kathryn worked as a bombshell inspector during World War II for the Cleveland Ordinance from 1942 to 1945 in Warren and Salem. She had the distinction during that time to be chosen as the poster girl representing all of the women working for the war effort. After the War, Kathryn worked for Mullens Manufacturing from 1945 to 1947.

A homemaker, Kathryn enjoyed her family and friends. Most of all, she was a kind, compassionate and caring person who always had time to visit with others. She was a very good listener and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her grandson, Aaron. She also enjoyed traveling with friends to various parts of the country.

Kathryn was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church and was a former member of its C & M Guild. She was also a former member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

Kathryn was married on November 19, 1947 to Michael Kubicina and they were for 46 years until his passing on July 16, 1993. Together they shared the love of two children Michele Kay Kubicina at home and Timothy Paul Kubicina also at home; and a grandson Aaron Kubicina of Boardman. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Mary Jane Kuch of Boardman and her special canine companions Lola and Saddee.

A loving and caring, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Kathryn will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents and husband, Michael, Kathryn was preceded in death by three brothers Andrew, Frank, and Steve Kuch and a sister Julia Pozniko.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12Noon at the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.

Services will begin on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 12Noon with closing prayers to be recited at the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 12:30 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church with Fr. James P. Walker officiating.

Burial will follow next to her husband, Michael in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Kathryn's name to the Heritage Fund of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church, 185 Laird Ave NE, Warren, Ohio, 44483.

The family of Kathryn would like to thank her caregivers, Pam, Annah, Kim, Cathy, Debbie and Jodilyn, for all of the care, love and comfort that they showed to Kathryn and for all that they did to make Kathryn's final days peaceful and comforting and for all of the support they showed to Kathryn's family during her time of need.
