January 10, 1929 – July 25, 2014
Jo Zombar, 85, of Cortland, passed away at 1:09 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Hospice House in Poland.
Jo was born on January 10, 1929 in Gordonsburg, Tenn., the daughter of the late Edgar D. and Minnie Hinson McKnight.
She retired from Packard Electric Co. and was a charter member of Sts Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. Jo was also a member of SCOPE of Lordstown. She enjoyed playing bridge, garage sales, visiting Tennessee with relatives and spending time with her family.
Jo was married on December 13, 1948 to Andrew Zombar and they were married for 53 years until his passing on September 21, 2002.
Jo is survived by her loving family, two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy A. and Jacquie Zombar of Cortland, and Jeffery D. and Sheila Zombar of Greene Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela J. and Curtis Eddie of Newton Falls; six grandsons, Timothy (Melanie) Zombar II, Benjamin (Jen) Zombar, David Zombar, Christopher Eddie, Matthew Zombar and Nicholas Zombar; granddaughter, Amanda Eddie; and two great grandsons, Sebastian and Easton and a great granddaughter, Sophia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Ohio and Tennessee.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Zombar was preceded in death by seven brothers: Ralph, Eddie, Frank, Robert, Louis Mabry, Thomas (Buster) and Bill and four sisters: Nell, Eloise, Theo (Phyliss) and Martha Ann.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will take place on Monday July 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Andrew Deskevich officiating, preceded by a 9:20 AM prayer service at the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.
Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Zombar's name to the Lordstown Scope.
