Valley City - Mary Ann Averell, 67, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Medina Hospital. She was born September 15, 1947 in Sharon, PA. the Daughter of the late Frank and Helen Sincek. Mary Ann was a 1965 graduate of Farrell High School. She received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Youngstown State University in 1969. Mary Ann retired in 2001 from the Warren City Schools system after teaching for 30 years at Secrest, 1st Street and McKinley Schools. She also taught GED classes from 2002 to 2009 that were sponsored by Warren City Schools and TCTC School. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, ORTA and the TRTA. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling, helping with the Blessed Sacrament Relay for Life and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Charles "Chuck" Averell whom she married August 9, 1969, a son Brian (Karen) Averell of Medina, a daughter Megan Averell of Boston, two grandchildren Evelyn and Elliott Averell and two brothers Frank (Marianne) Sincek of Mercer and Steve Sincek of Brookfield. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Sincek. Family and friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren and Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Thomas Eisweirth officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin of Tours Cemetery in Valley City, Ohio. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mary Ann's name to the Blessed Sacrament Relay for Life, or Blessed Sacrament Church at 3020 Reeves Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
