CORTLAND - Mary P. Hudak, 88, of Cortland, passed away peacefully in her daughter's loving arms Thursday, July 15, 2010, at her home.

Mary was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Avella, Pa., a daughter of Peter and Anna Prichina Prokop.

Mary enjoyed working at the Avalon Golf Course.

She was a member of the Democratic Club of Warren.

Mary was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, and loved visiting the sick and meek in their time of need.

The family wishes to offer special heartfelt thanks to the nurses and caregivers for their love and compassion. Beautiful memories of Mary will live on forever.

Mary leaves two daughters, Marie Jane (Jack) Childers of Howland and Shirley Ann (Walter) Frederick of Cortland, with whom she made her home. Mary also leaves two brothers, Peter Prokop of Liberty and George Prokop of Howland, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Mike Prokop.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, preceded by a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Pineview Cemetery.
