Mary A. Shimko, 94, formerly of Bonnie Brae NE in Warren, entered into eternal life on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:38 p.m. with her family by her side at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles following a long time battle with Alzhiemer's Disease.

Mrs. Shimko was born on March 7, 1921 in Niles the daughter of the late Trifon and Lena Tirlea and was a 1939 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.

A convert of the catholic faith, Mary was a charter member of the former Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Warren.   She was currently a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Cortland and belonged to the Johnson Senior Center.

Mary was married on August 12, 1942to George P. Shimko Jr. and they were married for 56 years until his passing on April 23, 1999.

Mary will be missed by her five children George P. (Diana) Shimko of Farmdale, Thomas J. (Mary) Shimko of Howland Twp., Stephen (Patti) Shimko of Liberty Twp., Peggy (Douglas) Terpac of Lordstown and Elizabeth Fenstermaker of Warren; a brother John Tirlea of Beachwood, Ohio; twenty grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, George, Mary was preceded in death by a brother Nicholas Tirlea; a sister Anne Bloomis; her God Daughter and niece Mary Ann Kaszowski and her nephew Timothy G. Bloomis.

Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 4659 Niles Cortland Road NE, Cortland, Ohio 44410

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 with Fr. Carl Kish officiating at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

As a sign of sympathy and condolence, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mrs. Shimko's name be made to Shepherd of the Valley, 1500 McKinley Ave, Niles, Ohio 44446.
