Warren - Michael D. "Mickey" Santone, 72, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at St. Joseph Health Center. Michael was born January 28, 1941 in Warren, Ohio the son of Anthony and Anne Santone. He was a 1959 graduate of Lordstown High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University with B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He previously worked at Electric Furnace as a Draftsman. Michael was a member of Christ Our King Church and St. Mary's Church in Warren. Despite serious injuries from a car accident in December 1971 Mickey maintained a rigorous life style with the help of his family and Y.S.U. faculty he went on to complete a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a daily fixture at the Warren YMCA. With their generosity of a lifetime membership that allowed him the physical and mental therapy that he needed and with his own self discipline and determination he was able to maintain a somewhat normal life. He enjoyed reading and gardening. He served in U.S. Army during the Berlin Wall and Cuban Missile crises. Michael is survived by his brothers Carmen (Kathy) Santone of Warren, Paul (Susan) Santone of Southington, Anthony Santone of Newton Twp. a sister JoAnn "Josie" Santone of Lordstown, and two aunts Virginia Santone of Champion and Pauline Rubinate of Brooklyn, NY.. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Daniel J. Santone, Sr.. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Warren with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Warren YMCA 210 High St. NW, Warren, Ohio 44481.
