Warren - Michael N. " Mike" Ambeliotis, 95, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. Mike was born January 24, 1918 in Peabody, MA. the son of Nicholis and Kyrakoula Ambeliotis. Mike returned to Greece as a young boy and later returned to New York City where he worked as a waiter, Barber and an ice cream vender in Central Park. After he married Evdoxia " Doxie" he helped run the family grocery store on Pine St. with his father-in-law. In 1948 Mike along with his father-in-law Pete Condoleon and his brother-in-law George Condoleon built and operated the Sunset Market on Woodland Ave. He later along with his wife opened the Homewood Market. In 1967 he returned to the Sunset Market and opened it as the Woodland Market and retired as the owner and operator of the Woodland Market in Warren. Mike was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Chios Club, Yasou Club, and a past member of Church Board. Mike enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and vacationing at his home in Chios, Greece along with his wife and his best joy was spending time with family and grandchildren. Mike is survived by his four children Marina (James) Raphtis of Warren, Kathy (Takis) Kardassilaris of Warren, Peggy ( Perry) Giourgalis of Warren and Nick (Sandy) Ambeliotis of Pittsburg, PA., eleven grandchildren Marcelle and Karrin Raphtis, James , Mike, and Christopher (Maria) Kardassilaris, Lana (George) Malliaras, John Giourgalis, Michael (Aundrea), Anthony (Alyssa), Nicole and Nicholas Ambeliotis, one brother Mathew (Ruth) Ambeliotis, and two sisters Markella Simoudis, and Effienia Koutsouratis. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evodoxia "Doxie" Ambeliotis whom he married September 29, 1946 and passed away November 11, 2005, brother Panagiotis Ambeliotis, two sisters Katina Tsemberlis and Marina Chandris. Family and Friends may call Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Trisaghion service at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. Service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warren.
