Obituary

Cortland - Mike Yurtin, 85, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born October 6, 1929 in Warren, Ohio the son of the late Stephen and Pauline Yurtin. Mike was a 1948 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and had attended Akron University where he played football for two years. He retired as a self employed bricklayer after 47 years. Mike was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Elks Lodge 295, Slovak Club and the Warren FOPA No.12. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, was a nature lover, an avid hunter, Akron and the Ohio State football fan. Mike served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army and also had been in the Naval Reserves. He is survived by his wife Marion Yurtin whom he married July 13, 1957, a son Michael J. Yurtin of Cortland, a brother Charles (Barbara) Yurtin of Singer Island, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Frank and John Yurtin and five sisters Pauline Toscano, Virginia Faren, Josephine Oren, Mary D' Allesandro and Betty Prychodnik. Family and friends may call Monday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Fr. Andrew Deskevich officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mike's name to Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church 180 Belvedere Ave. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
