Nellie A. Rutherford, 96, of Warren, entered into rest peacefully Friday, July 15, 2016 at 6:10 p.m. in her home with her family at her side under the comforting care of hospice.

Nellie was born January 16, 1920 in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna B. Gierlach Walchak.

Nellie retired from GE Ohio Lamp in Warren, where she was a line worker for 46 years.

She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish in Warren and belonged to the SCOPE.  Nellie enjoyed working in her yard and in her earlier years she found great enjoyment in dancing.

Nellie is survived by a son Harry Allan Rutherford of Warren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by a sister Helen Dudek.

A short time of visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. will take place on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, 727 E. Market St. Warren, Ohio 44481.

A Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Christopher Henyk officiating, will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in St. John Paul II Parish on North Street in Warren, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Champion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Nellie's name to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive Suite E, Green, Ohio 44685.
