Warren – Nelma Jean (Jeanie) Basciano-Carter passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Trumbull Regional Hospital from Covid related pneumonia.

Jeanie was born on December 15, 1952, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Spano Basciano. She was a 1971 graduate of John F. Kennedy. After graduation she moved to Tampa, FL where she worked as a group secretary for Sun Life Assurance. She later relocated to Houston, TX and worked as an administrative assistant at Coca Cola Foods for 15 years. Jeanie returned to Ohio in 1995 to be close to her mother and her Ohio family.

In 2018, Jeanie reconnected with the love of her life, Don Carter, and they married June 20, 2020. The last year and half with Don has been the happiest time of her life.

She was a member of Believers Church where she enjoyed her Busy Bees group and all of the friends she made there. Jeanie liked listening to music, shopping, movies, fashion, dining out, and helping at St. Vincent DePaul Dining Hall. Jeanie also, enjoyed writing poetry and had written many beautiful poems throughout her life. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and, especially, with her husband, Don.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Don, her sisters Joanne Lutz, Lauren (David) Riel, and Maribeth (Joe) East, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews, who brought her much joy and to whom she was a loving aunt, and her best friend, ZoeAnn Odell, who was like a sister to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Larry and Nellie Spano, her beloved aunt, Helen McQuiney, and several cousins.

Private services were held.

The family wants to thank Pastor Bill of Believers Church for all of his support during this very difficult time and the caring staff at Trumbull Regional CCU, especially Kaitlin and Jake.

Arrangements were entrusted to the professional care of the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio.
