Warren – Nicholas "Nick" Anastasiadis, 92, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1924, in McKeesport, PA, the son of the Stergo and Dorothea Anstasiadis.
Nick went to Greece with his parents in August 1926 and returned to the U.S. in February 1947. Met the love of his life Maria in December 1947 they became formally engaged on sweetest day in 1953 and were married in February 1954.
He retired from Van Huffel as crane operator after 35 years. He was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, a life member of AHEPA Zeus #88 and served several positions including Vice President, served on the Church Council several times including Secretary, was President and Treasure Cleovous Club, Senior Citizens of St. Demetrios, Vice President of the Appollon Rhodian Club and the Yasou Club.
He is survived by his wife Maria, children John (Cynthia) Anastasiadis of Erie, PA, Dorothea (Mark) Dahl of Columbus, OH, and Stephanie (Peter) Hunkar of Lakewood, CO, two grandchildren Dr. Nicole Maria Dahl, and Kristen Maria Hunkar, four brothers Sotiri (Martha) Anastasiadis of Tarpon Springs, FL, Tasso Anastasiadis of Warren, Fotis (Ellie) Anastasiadis, and Manuel (Litsa) Anastasiadis both of Rhodes, Greece and a sister Evangelia Mahramas of Warren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Nikita, Vaso (Twins), and George Anastasiadis, and three sisters Popi and Kaliope Anastasiadis, and Stella Ashiolas.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a 2:00 p.m. Trisagion and a 3:00 p.m. AHEPA Service and Monday from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE Warren, Ohio 44483.
A service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nick's name to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 429 High St. Warren, Ohio 44481, or Ahepa Zeus Lodge #88 or MVI Hospice 4891 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
