Nicholas A. Yenchochik, 87, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life in his sleep, Thursday, August 27, 2015 in his home.
Nicholas was born on December 17, 1927 in Mingo Junction, Ohio the son of the late John and Margaret (Kushner) Yenchochik and came to the area as a child.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Nicholas served his country with honor and distinction during World War II. He was honorably discharged on April 2, 1948 and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
Nicholas retired in 1990 from LTV Republic Steel where he worked as a crane man for over 40 years.
Nicholas was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church.
Nicholas was married on May 23, 1953 to the former Madeline Hovan and they were married for 41 years until her passing on May 8, 2011.
Nicholas is survived by three daughters Nancy J. (Chris) Pappas of Warren; Lynn M. (Jerry) Luich of Whittier, CA; and Kim L. Erl of Warren; a sister Betty A. Bednarik of Warren; a brother Elmer (Maryann) Yenchochik of Warren; five grandchildren Greg (Katie) Pappas; Aileen Pappas; Jamie and Sandy Luich; and Brian Erl; and three great grandchildren Gavin Pappas and Camron and Landen Erl.
Besides his parents and wife Madeline, Nicholas was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Quinn.
A Funeral Service, with Fr. Jonathan Cholcher officiating, will take place on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, where the body will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
Burial will follow in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Nicholas' name be made to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 2220 Reeves Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
