WARREN — Phillip Anastasiadis, 98, of Warren passed away peacefully on Friday evening, September 18, 2026, at his home surrounded by the love of his entire family.

Phillip was born in Rhodes, Greece in the village of Koskinou on July 30, 1928 a son of Stavros, an educator, and Paraskevi (Bardos) Anastasiadis.

Phillip worked for the permanent force of the Greek government as office manager in the American Vines Plantation of Rhodes and served in the Greek Army as a gunner and radio trainer in the armored battalion. After graduating high school, he was scheduled to be transferred to a government position and attend the University of Economics in Athens, but that same year he met a young beautiful Greek American girl who was visiting Rhodes. Phillip fell in love with Mary Koupiaris and decided to put his plans on hold, marry her and follow her to the States.

Upon arriving in Warren with his wife, who was six months pregnant, Phillip followed the usual path of the newcomers in the United States – get any job to support his new family. However, he never abandoned his ambition to continue his education. Phillip eventually enrolled at Kent State University and completed courses in Public Accounting and Business Administration. He was offered a position as Cost Accountant at Van Huffel Tube and was later placed in the Managerial Exempt Employee Group as a Cost and Budget Analyst, where he remained employed by the company for 28 years. After Van Huffel’s closing, he was hired by AVI Foods INC. where he worked in accounting for nine years. In addition to his public employment, Phillip also established his own accounting, tax and notary service, where he served many clients in the area. His notary business provided a great service to the Greek community as he was able to translate from English to Greek and from Greek to English on official and legal documents. For over 50 years, Phillip was the only person available in the Tri-State area with the contacts for legal authorities in Greece. He was always concerned and worried as to who would replace him and continue to offer this service to the Greeks of the area.

Outside of his professional life, Phillip was a devoted and dedicated member of St. Demetrios Orthodox Church and served in various committees. He was a life member of AHEPA Zeus Chapter 88, chosen as a Man of the Year in 1972. He was also a member of the Pan-Rhodian Society, a two-term Supreme President, Supreme Secretary for many terms and Chairman of the P.R.S. Scholarship Program and was the recipient of several honorary titles. Phillip will be remembered as a loving and kind person, never refusing to render his services to whomever needed them. He was a generous contributor to various charities and loved all sports, especially Soccer and Football. Phillip loved gardening and was always seeking to enhance and expand his knowledge on all subjects.

Above all else, Phillip lived for his family. Whether it was coffee weekends every Friday or continuing holiday traditions, he loved being around his family. Phillip’s children and grandchildren knew the way to his heart, and he loved to spend time with them. His wife was not only his partner, but his caregiver and love of his life. Phillip will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Phillip will always be remembered by his wife, Mary Anastasiadis of Warren; daughter, Irene (Bruce) Dauber; son, Steve Anastasiadis; grandchildren, Kristen and Phillip and numerous nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Greece.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his sister, Efrosini; brothers, Niko, Tasos and Vasilis and daughter-in-law, Sandy Anastasiadis.

Phillip’s family would like to give sincere thanks to Missy, Candace, Sarah and Tonya of Expand Hospice for their compassionate care of Phillip in his final days.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Phillip on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 10 to 11am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 429 High St. NE, Warren, OH 44481.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
