Raymond J. Stankewich, 73, of Howland Township passed away at 7:19 PM Saturday, October 18, 2014 at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
Raymond was born October 14, 1941 in Warren, the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Toth) Stankewich Sr. and was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.
He was very proud of his service in the United States Marines.
For the past 50 years, he had lived on the west coast, initially in the Los Angeles area and more recently in the Seattle, Washington area. During the past year, he had returned home. He became a member of the Howland Scope, the Slovak Club and for a time he was a volunteer for Trumbull Mobile Meals.
Raymond was always the first to assist anyone in need.
He is survived by his brothers, Joseph A. (Norma) Stankewich of Warren and Andrew W. (Marilyn) Stankewich Jr. of Lompoc, California. He will also be sadly missed by his very special friend, Josephine (Josie) Kundel. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Jeffrey Stankewich, Joni Jenkins, Tracey Vitali, Christopher Stankewich and Melinda Cunningham.
Private services will be held.
A caring cremation will take place under the direction of the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.
