Obituary

Richard A. "Dick" Senkowitz, 71, of Champion, entered into eternal life at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, February 08, 2015 in the Intensive Care Unit at Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Richard was born on July 5, 1943 in New Castle, Pa, the son of the late John and Catherine (Czechowski) Senkowitz and was a lifetime area resident.

A 1961 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Dick attended the Ohio School of Broadcasting in Cleveland.  On the radio as "Dick Anthony" he was a disc jockey for a short time with WSOM in Salem and was the News Director for 18 years with WHHH Radio Station in Warren.  Dick was also a business owner for the last 30 years.

Dick was of the Catholic faith and was a member St. William Parish in Champion.

He was very proud of his Polish heritage, and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He helped to start and was the first president of the Champion Little Flashes Football and was a softball and baseball coach for Champion Youth Athletics.

Richard is survived by his wife the former Joann Lowater whom he married on August 20, 1966; two children Christine (James) Hernon of Columbus and Mark (Danita) Senkowitz Cortland; four grandchildren Stephan and Logan Hernon and Gabriel and Kyle Senkowitz; two sisters-in-laws Donna Senkowitz of Warren and Irene (Henry) Houpt of Petaluma, CA.

Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by two brothers John and Ronald Senkowitz and two sisters Mildred Bobbey and Bernice "Bernie" Kubinski.

Calling hours will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.

Services will begin on Friday morning with closing prayers to be recited at 9:20 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Christopher Henyk officiating, in St. John Paul II Parish on North Street in Warren.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Champion.
