WARREN - Robert M. Robbins, 87, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center.
Robert was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Warren, the son of Edward and Mae Rubenson Robbins.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of sergeant.
Robert was a graduate of The Ohio State University. He was a licensed certified public accountant.
Prior to his retirement in 1998, Robert owned and operated R.M. Robbins and Associates in Warren for 50 years. His business was the first in the area to apply computer science to accounting.
Robert was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Warren Exchange Club, Rotary Club of Warren, Buckeye Club and the American Legion.
Robert was an avid Ohio State football fan, enjoyed golf and playing cards and was a Civil War and World War II history buff.
Robert leaves his loving family, his wife, Phyllis A. Dillon Robbins, whom he married Sept. 29, 1952; a daughter, Susan J. (Kevin) Burkey of Cortland; two sons, Pat D. (Joanne) Robbins of Warren and Michael C. Robbins of Alvarado, Texas; five grandchildren, Kelli A. Burkey, Carl Ray Robbins, Lori Racy, Jennifer Henri and Chelsea Robbins; and six great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Jeff'' Robbins, and two sisters, Betty Rosenthal and Selma Gould.
Private services will take place.
