Champion – Roger L. Samuelson, 79, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Cleveland Clinic from complications from pneumonia.

He was born April 29, 1937, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Wesley and Evalyn Samuelson.

He was a 1955 graduate of Champion High School. He retired from Packard Electric as an assembler after 30 years. He was a member of St. William Church in Champion.  He loved history, trains, model trains, old cars, animals and the community. His passion was always learning the stories of everyone he met.

Roger had the privilege to serve on the Champion School Board for the past 26 years.

He had served in the Ohio National Guard.

He is survived by his wife Maureen Samuelson who he married April 28, 1962, three children Kelley (John) Church of Howland, Roger M. (Regina) Samuelson of Washington, PA, and Jill Samuelson of Niles, eight grandchildren Kaitlyn, Emily, Aimery Samuelson, Najee, Naudia, Taija Pate, Evalyn & Lillian Church, a sister Lucille (Robert) Vesey of Champion, and two step brothers Ronald (Linda) Trask of Howland and Gerald (JoAnn) Trask of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Owen Trask, a sister Dorothy Stover, a stepbrother Eugene Trask who passed away in the Korean Conflict and a stepsister Roberta Groves.

Family and friends may call Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 and Monday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. William Church 5411 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, Ohio 44483.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
