Rosalind Veronica Patrone Grodesky, 77, passed away peacefully June 21st 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. Born August 2, 1938, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Ann Hatala Patrone. Rosalind graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1956 and attended Warren Business School and graduated with an associate's degree. She was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital, American Welding, and Copperweld Steel Company. While at Copperweld, she was the vice president of the Clerical Union, Chairman of the American Civil Liberties Committee, Chairman of the Alcoholism Program, and was a Community Services Counselor. She was also instrumental in helping to run her brother's jewelry business, J & K Jewelers. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and tirelessly volunteered with St. James Church in Warren and St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona. She was a Eucharistic lay minister since 1978; conducted adult religious education classes; was instrumental in outreach for teenagers; and taught CCD. She and Bill established a marriage preparation program for the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio. She was a long-time member of a community bible study, and was part of Catholic outreach programs in both Ohio and Arizona. She was also an accomplished artist and worked with the Butler Art Institute in Youngstown, Ohio and attended courses at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. She loved to travel and she and Bill spent many winters in Arizona. Her favorite activity, though, was spending time with her treasured grandchildren. Rosalind is survived by children Brian (Martha) Grodesky of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Morgan, William, and James, Dr. Janene Grodesky and Michael Barnes of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Scott Grodesky of Queens, New York; and grandchildren Jude and Ilona. She is survived by a sister Mary Ann Flaviano of Warren and beloved nieces and nephew Rosalind Salapata, Ron Flaviano, and Patty Romanski. Rosalind is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Delores Romanski and Joseph A. Patrone. She is also preceded in death by William A. "Bill" Grodesky whom she married August 3, 1974. Calling hours will be Friday, June 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 25th from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, Warren, Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday June 25th at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church, Warren, Ohio with Rev. John Lody officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rosalind's name to the JFK Renovation Fund; 1550 Central Parkway, Warren, Ohio 44484.
