Ruth A. Filkorn, 82, of Warren, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 in Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Filkorn was born on September 25, 1930 in Canonsburg, PA the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Gabster) Israel. She was a 1948 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

A homemaker, Ruth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warren, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and most importantly taking care of her family.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 56 years Harry F. Filkorn, Sr, whom she married on April 7, 1956; four children Harry F. Filkorn Jr. of Los Angeles; John Filkorn of Warren; Pete (Elna) Filkorn of Gilbert, Arizonia and Diane R. Filkorn of Warren; a brother Edward Israel of Warren; two sisters Pauline Escott of Chico, California and Nancy Bumgardner of Warren and four grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Filkorn was preceded in death by a sister Agnes Israel.

Calling hours will take place on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Bernard R. Schmalzried will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church preceded by closing prayers to be held at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior in leaving for church.

Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
