Obituary

Warren - Sally M. Fittipaldo, 95, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren after a brief illness. She was born November 29, 1919 in Warren, the daughter of the late Joseph I. and Victoria J. (Drozdal) Nastal. Sally was a 1938 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. Sally married her husband the late Nick Fittipaldo in October 1939. As a young woman Sally worked as a secretary in downtown Warren in an insurance office above Howard's with a window facing the court house. After raising her four daughters Sally worked at Livingston's and the Best Company. She volunteered at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for 25 years. Sally was a devoted wife and mother with her focus on her family. She participated in her girl's school activities. Sally was a founding member and an active volunteer at Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren. Sally helped with her class reunions, enjoyed writing poetry and songs, playing cards and bingo, and solving puzzles. She was always ready and willing to travel locally or afar. She was optimistic, kind and thoughtful. If you knew her, you loved her. Her six grandchildren always knew a fun "Gram" who would do everything from cook and bake, attend their school/sports activities and even watch scary movies. Sally is survived by her four daughters: Darlene Mink (Dan) Crouse, Beverly Fittipaldo (Tom Daily), June ( Richard) James and Sally Gelata all of Warren; six grandchildren: Kimberly (Bill) Griffin, Pamela Mink ( James II) Martuccio, Tyler (Molly) James, Ashley James (Ed) Stredney, Ben Lowry and Danny (Heather) Lowry, eight great grandchildren: Connor and Ross Griffin, James and Jack Martuccio, Nathan and Natalie James, Skyler and Morgan Stredney, and sister Dorothy A. Welday. Generations of Nastal and Fittipaldo cousins, nieces and nephews will miss Aunt Sally too. Sally is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great grandson Mason James, three brothers John J., Frank and Stanley Nastal, three sisters Blanche Ellis, Maryann MacLaren and Helen Jane Nielsen. Family and friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery in Warren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sally's name to Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 , Trumbull Memorial Hospital 1350 E Market St. Warren, Ohio 44482 or to Hospice of the Valley, 8190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
