Obituary

Samuel Thomas Weeks, 41, of Champion, OH entered into eternal rest on April 29th, 2026 surround by family. Sam loved life deeply. Though he faced physical challenges, they never defined his spirit. He met life with strength, determination, and quiet courage, always striving to live as fully and independently as possible.

Sam's childhood was filled with great memories, many of which can be recalled by his sisters. Sam approached school and college with resilience. He began his studies at the University of Cincinnati and completed his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Akron, where he formed many lasting friendships. He went on to spend 13 years working in thermodynamic design, applying his knowledge and expertise with pride.

Sam was a bright student and when he wasn't busy studying, he enjoyed spending time with his sister and close friends, rocking out, playing Guitar Hero. Sam had a deep sense of responsibility and worked most nights at the front desk of his residence hall where his communication skills and positive demeanor were put to good use, greeting other students and helping with any questions they had.

Music was one of Sam's Greatest passions, listening to 311, Rammstein, Pink Floyd, Tame Impala and many more. He traveled to hear his favorite bands in person, including a special trip with his sister to see Rammstein in Chicago. Sam was a creator of music, singing in the choir, cantering in church and playing guitar when he was able. Sam participated in the RCIA program and men's renewal at Saint Christine's Church in Youngstown, OH, where he made lasting friendships.

Sam was a faithful Cleveland sports fan and could often be found watching games in the pavilion he helped design, or even attending in person when the opportunity allowed. Sam was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed all things automotive, including Formula 1, NHRA Drag Racing, and making the journey to Norwalk and mid-Ohio to watch races in person. Sam wasn't just interested in watching cars, he earned both trophies and friends during car shows he participated in. He also enjoyed watching WWE.

Family meant everything to Sam, his proudest moments were participating in both of his sisters' weddings and being asked to fill the special roll of godfather to both his niece Marley and his cousin Westley, responsibilities he cherished his whole life. Every day, Sam was excited to share what he knew with those around him, including recipes, encouraging others to try new restaurants, building rockets, and enjoying simple moments of peace, sitting by a fire with those he cherished, including his families Boston terrier, Esther.

Holidays were always a special occasion. Sam celebrated 4th of July with a BANG, creating ever-growing firework displays, and bringing neighbors together. He loved his nieces Mia and Marley and nephew Mason, carefully choosing cards for each of them and picking out the most thoughtful presents for birthdays and Christmas. Nobody could compare to Sam's legendary "white-elephant" gifts or his dedication to keeping the process orderly.

Affectionately known as "the Professor" to his nieces and nephew, due to his seemingly endless knowledge and his willingness to help others. Sam will be remembered as a kind, caring, and genuine person with a heart of gold. If you had the chance to know him and spend time with him, you were truly fortunate. He was brave and fought until the very end, with strength in every breath.

He is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His will to live was unparalleled.

Sam is survived by his parents, Thomas and Teresa Weeks; his sisters, Laura (Matthew) Matuszewski and Amy (Eddie) Mackiewicz; and his nieces, Mia and Marley, and nephew, Mason.
