Howland - Shirley N. Painter, 69, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital E.R. She was born December 21, 1944 in New Castle, PA. the daughter of Walter and Josephine Winters. Shirley was a graduate of Mahawk High School in PA. She had a BS in Education from Slippery Rock College. Shirley retired from LaBrae Middle School as an English Teacher after 30 years. She was a member of Howland United Methodist Church, Labrae Education Association, OEA and the NEA. She enjoyed reading. She is survived by her husband John Painter, Jr., and a son David M. Painter of Howland, brother-in-law James Painter of San Francisco, CA., cousins Latisha, Rodica, John, Jr., and Alina Andrei. She is preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends may call Thursday from Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Howland 1st United Methodist Church. A Service will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Church with Rev. Matt Darrin officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. In lieu flowers contributions may be made in Shirley's name to Howland 1st United Methodist Church, 730 Howland Wilson Rd NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
