Sonya McDougal, 59, of Cortland, passed away Thursday March 22, 2012 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Sonya was born October 6, 1952 in Lima, Peru, the daughter of Jan and Helena Sewes Rudz. She was a 1972 graduate of Champion High School. Sonya was employed at Lakeview High School as a cook. She was a member of St John the Baptist Orthodox Church. Sonya leaves her loving husband, Ronald D. Mc Dougal whom she married May 27, 1984; also she leaves her mother Helena Rudz of Cortland; a son, John R. McDougal of Cortland; a daughter, Krystle McDougal of Cortland; two sisters, Lidia Toumazos of Cortland and Helen Trunick of Champion; brother-in-law William Galgoszy of Cortland; four nieces, Janet Galgoszy of Cortland, Natalie Toumazos of Cortland, Ashley Trunick of Champion and Emily Trunick of Champion and a nephew Nicholas Toumazos Jr of Cortland. Also Sonya will be missed by her many co-workers and friends. In addition to her father, Sonya was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Galgoszy. Calling hours will be Sunday March 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with a Panachida Service at 7:30 PM at Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Monday March 26 at 10:00 AM at St John the Baptist Orthodox Church preceded by a calling hour 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Pineview Memorial Park.
