Obituary

Stephen D. "Steve" Tsilimos, 74, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, July 22, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital.

Steve was born on December 23, 1951, in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Demetrios and Paraskeve Tsilimos. A proud lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, he graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1969 before earning his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Kent State University. Following graduation, Steve worked for Goodyear Tire for a short time before embarking on a career as an insurance agent, serving the Hubbard community for many years. He also enjoyed working part-time as an auctioneer, a role that allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life.

Outside of his professional life, Steve was well known throughout the area as a dedicated sports official. He spent countless hours officiating high school and adult athletic competitions, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball. His fairness, integrity, and love of the game earned the respect of athletes, coaches, and fellow officials alike.

Steve was deeply proud of his Greek heritage and treasured his family's roots on the island of Chios. His heritage remained an important part of his identity throughout his life.

One of Steve's greatest passions was his membership at Leverage Gym, where he found not only fitness but also lifelong friendships. Known affectionately as "Steve-O," he earned his third-degree black belt in Ju Jitsu through years of dedication, perseverance, and discipline. His fellow members became like family, and the time he spent training alongside them brought him tremendous joy and fulfillment.

More than anything, Steve cherished the people in his life. He will be lovingly remembered by his longtime partner, Kathy Barkley, and by her immediate and extended family, who embraced Steve as one of their own. He leaves behind Kathy's children, Scott Clapsadle and Amy (Jay) Gordon, and was “Papou” to her grandchildren, Caleb, Nina, and Lila. He also leaves behind his cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Steve is also survived by his beloved niece, Tuesday (Joseph) Leigh; his nephew, James Tsilimos; and his great-nephews, Adam, Matthew, and Michael.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, John (Helen) Tsilimos.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Steve on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.

Additional calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steve's honor to Healthy Hearts and Paws of Warren or the Warren Family Mission.
