Steve M. Horvath, 90, of Champion, passed away at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Windsor House at Champion.

Steve was born in Warren on October 20, 1927 the son of the late Stephen and Helen Miklosko Horvath and was a lifelong area resident.

Steve was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and enlisted into the United States Marines on October 8, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio.  He fought with the Aircraft Engineering Squadron Forty-Six during World War II as a rifle marksman and aircraft engine mechanic aboard the USS Merrimack.  He served his country faithfully and honorably and for his service he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1948 in Cherry Point, North Carolina with the rank of Sergeant.

While in the service, Steve attended the Marine Corps Aviation Technical School.  He retired as a melt shop supervisor in 1988 from Copperweld Steel after a career of 38 years.  Steve also worked at Steven's Auto Parts, the family business.

Steve loved reading, traveling, and genealogy.  He was a longtime parishioner of St. William Catholic Church in Champion.

Family will receive friends in the vestibule of St. William Parish, 5431 Mahoning Ave, Warren, Ohio 44483 on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the church with Fr. Michael D. Balash officiating.  Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Steve's name be made to the church.
