Stratos "Charlie"
Dimitrakelis
March 16, 1932 – June 10, 2016
Warren - Our much-loved Uncle Charlie Stratos Dimitrakelis transitioned to the eternal kafenion.. Charlie was born in Grenoble, France, the only son of the late Ioannis and Eleni Kormili Dimitrakelis. The family moved to Xorion Kapi, Mytilene in 1932. He immigrated to Warren in 1951, at the invitation of his adoring maternal aunts Mrs. Despina Benetis and Mrs. Stella Simon. Charlie married his beloved Barbara Biteman Dimitrakelis on October , 1965 They enjoyed 37 years of marriage until her passing on July 6, 2002. Until his retirement, in 1982, Charlie was employed as a welder at ITT Grinnell. He enjoyed gardening, growing the most miraculously flavorful tomatoes, sharing his delicious cooking with friends and family and engaging in political discussions with his coffee cronies. A voracious reader with a razor-sharp memory, Charlie was a history buff. He taught the nieces and nephews to hold their cards close to the vest. Charlie was ever the optimist, always looking forward. He was quietly generous and thoughtful. Nearly every summer, Charlie visited his dear sister Eleftheria Tsaousoglou and niece Eleni Tsaousoglou in Mytilene. They went to the beaches and toured historic sites. In the afternoons, Charlie went to the kafenion while Eleftheria and Eleni prepared his favorite dishes. Charlie is survived by his niece Eleni Tsaousoglou, and many cousins and friends. Calling hours will be today, from 11-12 noon at Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, Trisagion at noon with Fr. Constantine Valantasis officiating. Honoring Charlie's wishes, entombment will be at a later date in Xorion Kapi. Material contributions may be made to the St. Demetrios Scholarship Fund 429 High St. Warren, Ohio 44481..
