Warren - Sylvia J. Markopoulos, 78, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Windsor House in Champion. She was born April 28, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of the late John and Polyhymnia Vouis. She was a 1956 graduate of Campbell High School, and received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Youngstown State University. For 25 years, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Warren City Schools and was also a free-lance Interior Decorator. She was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Warren, the Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptochos Society. She is survived by her children Kirk (Karen) Markopoulos of Peidmont, CA, Palan (Steven) Lussier of Howland and Kristan (Dan) Quinn of Chardon, six grandchildren Michelle, Nicole and Gina Lussier, Theodore and Nikolas Markopoulos and Ian Quinn, a sister Thelma Spirtos of Whittier, CA, two brothers Dr. George (Sherrie) Vouis of Key Biscayne, FL, Dr. Steve (Lorraine) Vouis of Whittier, CA. and three sister-in-law's Patricia Vouis of Westerville, OH, Sylvia (Phillip) Bardos of Powell, OH and Beverly Markopoulos of Niles. She is preceded by her parents, husband Dr. Elefterios K. "Tedd Markopoulos who she married August 26, 1962 and passed away March 9, 2014, and son Jon Markopoulos, and a brother Phillip Vouis. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a 5:30 p.m. Trisagion Service and Thursday from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr Constantine Valantasis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Warren.
