Obituary

Warren - Toney Sparacino, 88, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Joseph Health Center. Toney was born April 14, 1925 in Kilsyth, West Virginia the son of Santo and Fortunata Sparacino. He was a graduate of Mt. Hope High School in W. Virginia and attended West Virginia University. Toney retired from the Youngstown Air Base as a supervisor. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, VFW post 1090 and the DAV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, getting the party started with dancing and he had a special formula for playing the lottery. Toney served in U.S. Army WW II and was a Highly Decorated Solder with A Purple Heart, two oak leave cluster, a bronze star and Oak Leaf Cluster, a Silver Star, the Combat Infantry badge, an arrowhead for the invasion of France and four Battle Stars. He is survived by his wife Frances Sparacino whom he married November 10, 1948, son Samuael "Sam" (Rose) Sparacino of Cleveland, a brother George Sparacino of Cortland, step brother Joe DeLuca of CA., Nunzio (Teresa) DeLuca of Champion, two brother-in-laws Walter Kwederavich of Erie PA., Georgie (Liz) Jacobs, three sister in laws Donna Marie (George) Kascsak, Verna (Arnold) Barzakand, Betty Irene (Roger) Hanna, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded death by his parents, son Toney Edward Sparacino, step father Biagio "Bennie" DeLuca, one brother Charles Sparacino, step brother Carmen DeLuca Sister-in-law Mary Sparacino and a step sister-in-law Dorothy DeLuca. Family and friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Bernard Schmalzried officiating. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to St. Mary's Church 301 High St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44481 or Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market St. Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
