Obituary

Virginia Shine, 92, of Olmsted Falls, formerly of Warren, passed away at 7:47 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 with her family by her side at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights.

Born February 1, 1922 in Monessen, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances (Pragacz) Slyk and was a proud 1940 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

She retired after 20 years working in the retail business.

Virginia was a long time member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-St. James Church in Warren and was a member of its Altar & Rosary Society and the over 50 club. Virginia was very proud of her Polish heritage.

Virginia was married on January 12, 1946 to Albin "Al" Shine and they were married for 62 years until his passing on October 3, 2008 and together they shared the love of four children Ken E. Shine of Olmsted Falls, Marsha E. Hofer of Aurora, Colorado, Lynda J. (Mark) Hodermarsky of Olmsted Falls and Patricia (John) Ellis of Mason, Ohio; five grandchildren Paul (Lauren) Hodermarsky, Janet Hodermarsky, Megan, Amanda and Lauren Ellis and two great grandchildren Lily and Henry Hodermarsky. She is also survived by two brothers Richard "Dick" (Sandra) Slyk of Howland and Robert (Norma) Slyk of Warren and a sister Barbara Balogh of St. Petersburgh, Florida.

Besides her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a sister Pearl Capan.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. James P. Walker officiating in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-St. James Church, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in the funeral home prior to leaving for the church.

Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

The family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Virginia's name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-St. James Church 185 Laird Ave NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
