Virginia Substanley, 92, of Warren, passed away at 7:39 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Emeritus at Chestnut Hill in Columbus.

Virginia was born on September 19, 1920 in Campbell, Ohio the daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara (Reichart) Kielb and was a 1939 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.

A homemaker, Virginia was a member of Blessed John Paul II Parish in Warren. She was a longtime Cub Scout Den Mother and was an accomplished seamstress. Virginia enjoyed camping and hiking with her family and was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association for many years.

Virginia married Steve J. Substanley on July 5, 1941 and they were married for 51 years until his passing on October 12, 1992.

Virginia is survived by two children, Jeanette (Lawrence) DelBane of Concord Township and Jerome (Bernie Thurn) Substanley of Gahanna; a brother Adam Kielb of Lowellville, Ohio; grandchildren Paul and Matthew DelBane, Corrine (Tom) Rupp and twins Nathaniel and Zachary Substanley; and two great granddaughters Megan and Katie Rupp.

Besides her parents and husband, Steve, Virginia was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Saturday with Fr. Godffrey Torac officiating in Blessed John Paul II Parish, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to leaving for the church.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Champion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed in Virginia's name to the St. Joseph Cemetery Endowment Fund c/o Blessed John Paul II Parish, 420 North St. NW, Warren, Ohio 44483.
