Warren – William R. “Bill” Stanko, 56, of Warren passed away on Thursday morning, June 11, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on July 3, 1969 in Warren, OH, a son of Robert J. Sr. and Nancy Lee (Loria) Stanko.
Bill was a 1987 graduate of Howland High School and went on to earn an associate’s degree in business management from Kent State University. Over the span of 20 years, Bill worked in various roles for Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Outside of work, Bill enjoyed reading, DIY carpentry work, and working on jigsaw puzzles. He especially enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and going for long walks. Bill was a faithful and active member of Grace Methodist Church in Warren where he taught Sunday school and volunteered for vacation bible school. Most of all, Bill was a loving husband and father. Whether it was baking cookies at home or getting together with his extended relatives, Bill cherished the time he spent with those he loved and will be deeply missed.
Bill will always be remembered by his wife of 35 years, Linda (Bucher) Stanko of Warren; daughters, Sarah Stanko of Cleveland Heights and Alaina (Chan) Sy of Hubert, NC; granddaughter, Saige Sy; father, Robert J. Stanko Sr.; sister, Catherine (Damian) Shemo of North Olmsted; goddaughter and niece, Kiara Shemo and brother-in-law, Brian Bucher.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Lee Stanko; nephew, Mason Shemo and sister-in-law, Charlene Bucher.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Bill on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 2 to 4pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.
A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home on Sunday at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s name to Grace Methodist Church, Memo: Vacation Bible School, 1725 Drexel Ave NW Warren, OH 44485 OR to Mending Hearts for Mason, in honor of his nephew using the following link: https://mendingheartsformason.com/donate/
