CORTLAND - Willis Dean Baughman, 77, of Cortland, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Willis was born Jan. 15, 1933, in Greensburg, Pa., the son of James H. and Hazel M. Dillon Baughman.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.

Willis retired from Copperweld Steel Co. in 1998 after working there 43 years.

Willis was a member of American Legion Post 751 in Southington. He enjoyed fishing, boating and working on cars.

Willis leaves his loving wife of almost 50 years, Catherine L. Keener Baughman, whom he married Dec. 6, 1960; a son, Robert Dean Baughman of Cortland; a daughter, Julie L. (Scott) Murray of Chapin, S.C.; a sister, Beulah Szczurek of Southington; and a special granddaughter, Amanda Michelle Murray.

In addition to his parents, Willis was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ella Curtiss.

Calling hours will be noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, with the service following at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Bernard P. Schmalzried will conduct the service.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park with a military honor guard salute to Willis.
