Obituary

WARREN - Yousef (Josef) Shehabi, 70, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at his home.

He was born Feb. 17, 1941, at his family home on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, Palestine, the son of Saleh and Yousrieh Shahabi.

Yousef studied in the Middle East and Austria before coming to the Youngstown area. He graduated in engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

He worked at Millennium Inorganic Chemicals as a project engineer and served as project manager for several plant expansions and major capital projects. Following his retirement from Millennium, he worked as a consultant on titanium dioxide plant construction in China.

Yousef married Patricia George on Aug. 13, 1976, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they returned for their 25th wedding anniversary. In August, they celebrated their 35th anniversary.

In addition to Patricia, he is survived by his son, attorney Omar Yousef Shehabi; his brother, Monther; his sisters, Fatina Daqqaq, Nawal (Omar) Khatib and Haifa (Sufyan) Sakallah; his sister-in-law, Patti Shehabi; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Nabil, Nabila, Zahera, Nafiseh and Ma'moun.

Yousef enjoyed international politics, sports, reading, walking, travel and spending time with his family here and throughout the Middle East.

Yousef requested that there be no services or calling hours. His extended family held a dinner in celebration of his life on Sept. 14. He was respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
