Zorka Brakus, 94, of Warren, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 in her home.

Zorka was born April 9, 1920 in Zaluznica, Yugoslavia the daughter of the late Rade and Soka (Hinic) Dorontic and came to the United States in 1951. A homemaker, Mrs. Brakus was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Warren. She was married on April 22, 1947 to Mile Brakus and they were married for 60 years until his passing on November 13, 2007. Mrs. Brakus is survived by two sons Joe Brakus of Warren and George (Kathy) Brakus of Warren; a brother Djordjo Dorontic; a sister Anka Hrjalovic and two step grandchildren Scott and Emily. Besides her parents and husband, Mile, Mrs. Brakus was preceded in death by four brothers Yovo, Stevo, Dusan and Nedeljko Dorontic. Calling hours will take place for Mrs. Brakus on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, where a Parastas service will be said at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, November 15, 2014 with closing prayers to be recited at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed a Funeral Liturgy to be said at 11:00 a.m. in St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church with Fr. Dragan Goronjic officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
