Howland – Albert J. “Al” Stanich, 91, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 28, 1926 in Bessemer, PA, a son of the late James and Jennie Stanich.
He retired in 1986 with 43 years of service from GE’s Ohio Lamp Plant after working in the quality and shipping departments. Al was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and enjoyed telling stories and playing golf. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes.
Al served in the U.S. Army during and after WWII. He received the following medals: European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Ribbon and the Army Occupation Medal (Germany).
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Michaelene “Mickey” Stanich; two daughters, Theresa (Dominic) Basciano of New Palestine, IN, and Christine (Todd) Rodden of Centerville, OH; four grandchildren, Dom, Maria, Nathan and Nick; a brother-in-law John Janovick of Warren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James Stanich and a sister Ann Janovick.
A private family service was held with Rev. Thomas J. McCarthy officiating.
Burial was in All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
