Andrew Pecchio Obituary

Andrew J. Pecchio, 76, of Farmdale, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Andrew was born October 17, 1948 in Youngstown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Margaret G. (Scaperotto) Pecchio and brother, Ronald R. Pecchio. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1974.

Andrew began his law enforcement career with the Mahoning County Sheriff Department in 1971 and began to serve on the Mahoning Ashtabula Trumbull Drug Unit until 1976. He joined the Liberty Police Department as a patrolman in 1974 and retired as a Detective Sergeant in 1990. He held the position of Commander of the Drug Unit for Mahoning County under Sheriff Ed Nemeth. He was a dedicated public servant and worked tirelessly to protect the community. After retiring from a decorated career in law enforcement, Andrew was appointed as a bailiff in Girard Municipal Court for the late Honorable Michael Bernard. A true testament to the incredible police officer that he was, he was asked to step in as the Chief of Police in Vienna Township for several years until he finally retired for good.

His true passion, however, was his farm, which he warmly named Sugar Creek Farm. As an escape from the hectic world of cops and robbers, Sugar Creek Farm was a haven of green pastures, cows, horses and chickens. Andrew spent countless hours turning the farm into a beautiful and prosperous home that his children, grandchildren, family and friends gathered for many years. Andrew enjoyed riding his horse, Paddy, on long trail rides and breeding cows. He looked forward to his hunting trips out west with his very best friends. But above all, his greatest joy in life came from visits with his grandchildren and regaling them with wild stories. No one ever really knowing what was true and what Papa Andy was making up. He was incredibly proud of each of them. He was equally as proud to share his home with his grandson Nicholas and daughter Andrea, who both made him laugh and took excellent care of him in recent years. Andrea and Jennifer’s fondest memory of Andrew is him pulling them in the red wagon from their grandparent’s home to the playground in Mill Creek Park. And they want to thank him for fulfilling his promise of building a home in the country and for all that he has done for them.

Andrew will be terribly missed and his absence in our world will never be replaced. Andrew leaves behind to cherish his memory his two devoted daughters, Andrea Pecchio of Farmdale; Jennifer (Ken) Troutman of Chagrin Falls; his four grandchildren that adored him, Nicholas Muscarella; Anthony, Dominic and Sophia Alandt; his two nieces, Dawn Michelle (Jason) Roberts of Navarre and Carla (Matthew) Pecchio-Bowen of Canfield and their children, and numerous cousins, family and friends.
