Anita “Nita” Louise Principi

Anita Louise Principi – 1936-2024

Warren - Anita “Nita” Louise Principi, 88, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, following a brief illness.

She was born in Warren and was the daughter of the late William and Katherine Vincent Bross.  Anita attended Warren City Schools.  Following graduation in 1954, she became the Secretary to the Superintendent of Warren City Schools, and later, the Secretary to the President of Trumbull Savings and Loan.  Anita also volunteered her time at Trumbull Memorial Hospital for over 30 years.

Following a seven-year romance, Anita married Gene Principi in January 1959.  After stops at Fort Benning, GA and Fort Knox, KY, Gene and Anita settled in Warren where they have lived for 66 years. 

Anita was a talented seamstress, knitter and cook.  She enjoyed making her children and grandchildren clothing, sweaters, scarves and blankets. Anita shared her love of cooking and baking with her daughters and her grandkids along with her passion for flower gardening.  Anita was very proud of her kids’ and grandkids’ achievements, and never missed a game, swim meet, golf or tennis match.

Her favorite vacation destination for over 50 years was St. Pete’s Beach, Florida, where she grew to love shell collecting and creating various types of shell art. 

Precious memories of “Nita” live on with her husband Gene, daughters Janine (Mark) Mazzi and Kris (Dave) Preston.  Grandkids Rachel (Nate) Whaley, Kate (Jimmy) Donnelly, Matt (Emily) Preston, Morgan Preston, great-grandson Fitzgerald Whaley along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her death were her parents, sisters Betty, Margaret (Maggie), Violet (Pee Wee) and Jeannie.

A private memorial service will be held this coming Spring, Anita’s favorite season.  

Contributions may be made in Anita’s name to her favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Wounded Warriors Project and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, 1884 North Rd. NE Warren.
