Barbara J. (Papp) Straface

Warren - Barbara J. (Papp) Straface, 79 of Warren, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, Ohio.  Barbara passed after a short, hard fight with cancer.

Barbara Straface was born July 9, 1945, in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of the late Andrew A. Papp Jr. and Eunice (Sirtoli) Papp.

She was a 1963 graduate of Martin's Ferry High School and vocational school for cosmetology.

She married the love of her life John A. Straface Sr. on August 14, 1965.  Then soon after marriage moved to Waren, Ohio.  Several years later Barbara became a licensed optician and worked for Dr. Herman at Co Optical in Warren.  She then managed Royal Optical in Niles, Ohio for several years.  Barbara began working for Belmont Eye Clinic in Youngstown, Ohio, of where she retired after 30 years.

Barbara enjoyed watching NFL Football and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.  She also enjoyed watching figure skating, gymnastics and baseball.

She enjoyed dancing, music, old movies from yester-year and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and was very active with running Blessed Sacrament Church bingo several years ago.  She also enjoyed spending time at the casino, and you could find her playing her favorite machine “Pompeii".  She was also a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church.

Barbara will be sadly missed by many.  She was always so kind, compassionate and caring.  She carried on in her life with a huge heart, dignity and poise.  She was "MOM" to many.

She leaves a daughter, Tracy Ann Straface and son-in-law Jody A. Moore of Warren, Ohio; a sister Louise (Papp) May of Walnut, California, a brother Andrew A. Papp III of Randelman, North Carolina, in-laws Gloria and Craig Closser of Yorkville, Ohio and many nieces, nephews and cousins.   She also leaves her "fur" grand dog Angel.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John A. Straface Sr., son, John A. Straface Jr., sister, Andrea K. Papp, sister and brother in-law Madilyn and Tim Beiswenger, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling Hours are Monday, May 19, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm at Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. N.E. Warren, Ohio.  Again Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish Blessed Sacrament Church 3020 Reeves Rd. N.E. Warren, Ohio.

Funeral Services are Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish Blessed Sacrament Church 3020 Reeves Rd. N.E. Warren, Ohio.

Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery Cortland, Ohio.
