Beverly Ann MacPherson

Howland – Beverly Ann (Stephen) MacPherson, 85, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019, at St Joseph Hospital surrounded by family.

            Beverly was born in Cleveland, OH on October 5, 1933, at Lutheran Hospital, the youngest child of Daniel Francis Stephen and Catherine Ann Gettings. She attended and graduated from Lourdes Academy in 1951. Beverly and Bruce married on July 26, 1952 in Angola, IN and they had five children. The family lived in the Cleveland area until 1967 when they moved to Howland Township. Beverly was a proud graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She was active in the community from the time she arrived in Howland, most notably her creation of the local Parkinson’s Support Group, and additionally alongside her husband with the Rotary local to international chapters. She was a mom for 14 Howland Rotary Exchange Students and hosted the first exchange student in Howland. Beverly enjoyed traveling around the world visiting many countries to include relatives in Scotland. In 2002, she received the Warren Tribune Chronicle STAR award for her work as an advocate with Parkinson’s patients. In the winter, Beverly and her husband enjoyed exploring the south, taking up temporary residences in different states. She was the owner of MacPherson Engineering Inc, which is proudly continued by her family. Her big smile, fiery red hair and matching feisty spirit will long be remembered.

            She is survived by five children: Bruce D., Elizabeth, Daniel (Tammy), Jane (Dave Carlisle), Kenneth, Fifteen Grandchildren: Jayesh Shah (Ruthya Krishnappa), Lisa Wohlrab (Eric), Melissa MacPherson, Kristen Brant (Benjamin), Jennifer Henkel (Joachim), Jordan MacPherson (Nicole), Kimberly Chadwick (Brett), Maria Shah (DavidJohn Gerena), Kryssana MacPherson, Bruce “Beamer” MacPherson, Ashley MacPherson (Kevin Coultrap), Alexander MacPherson (Sabrina Khamphoumy), Mark Mrozek, John “Jack” MacPherson (Tori Bass), Sarah MacPherson, and 11 great grandchildren, plus two step grandchildren; Joseph Pizzulo (Katherine) and Cristin Carlisle (Justin), a sister-in-law Patricia (Harold) Lund, sister–in-law Barbara Stephen plus our beloved first exchange student Giancarlo Pellizzari and many exchange students from around the world that called her “Mom”.

            Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Bruce M. MacPherson, a brother Charles S. Stephen, a sister Eileen (Fredrick J.) Brockman, brother-in-law Kenneth E MacPherson Jr., and a daughter-in-law Cindy Michael.

            Family and friends may pay their respects Friday, January 18 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 19, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 (330)-372-4211.

            Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter Paul Byzantine Catholic Church 180 Belvedere NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, Fr. Simeon B. Sibenik officiating.

            Interment will be in Howland Township Cemetery.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Howland Rotary Club or Lena Mason Christian Foundation.
