Warren – Cecil G. “Ted” Steinbeck Jr., 91, of Warren passed away on Friday morning, August 16, 2024 at Continuing Healthcare of Mineral Ridge.
Ted was born on April 5, 1933 in Warren, OH, a son of Cecil G. Sr. and Florence (McClellan) Steinbeck.
Ted was a 1951 graduate of Howland High School and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. Ted served for four years as an airplane mechanic during the Korean War and earned the rank of Private. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and an honorable discharge.
Upon his return home, Ted married the love of his life, Marlene Palonder. He worked as a roller at Republic Steel for over 30 years, while also working as a volunteer Howland firefighter.
Ted was an active member at Sts. Cyril and Methodius for many years. He enjoyed making pierogies and kolachi with the church members. He was also involved with the Meander Chapter of the Antique Car Club of America and Howland Scope.
Ted was an overall handyman and enjoyed traveling, camping, biking, and dancing. Most of all, he loved and cherished his family. Ted will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ted will always be remembered by his wife of 66 years, Marlene Steinbeck of Warren; children, Gregory (Jill) Steinbeck of Macedonia, Laura (Tim) Landers of Stow, and Todd (Kristie) Steinbeck of Akron, and grandchildren, Sam (Meredith) Steinbeck of Jacksonville, FL, Garrett (Maria) Steinbeck of Columbus, Will (Joella) Landers of Cuyahoga Falls, Steven (Mary) Steinbeck of Akron, Seth Steinbeck, and Austin Everhardt.
Besides his parents, Ted was preceded in death by three sisters, Zeta Marie Penn, Virginia Oaks, and Marion Fusko.
Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Ted on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 10am to 11am at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - St. Mary’s Church, 232 Seneca Ave NE, Warren, OH 44481.
A Funeral Mass will follow at the church on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Christopher Cicero presiding.
Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
